Privacy Policy
Connects to Dollars is a Chrome extension that shows the dollar cost of Upwork Connects and, optionally, tracks your own proposal spending. This page explains exactly what data exists and where it goes. The short version: your data stays yours, and we never see it.
If you don't sign in
Nothing is collected, stored remotely, or transmitted anywhere. The extension reads the Upwork pages you visit locally in your browser to add dollar labels next to Connects amounts. No account, no analytics, no network requests.
If you sign in with Google
Signing in unlocks proposal history. The extension then stores:
- Proposal records you generate: job title, job URL, Connects spent, proposal status (sent / viewed / interview / hired / lost), whether you marked it won, and any contract value you enter.
- Your Google account email and user ID, used solely to identify your own data.
This data is kept in your browser's local storage and in a single private document in our Google Firebase (Firestore) database. Access rules enforce that only your Google account can read or write your document. The developer does not read, aggregate, analyze, sell, or share your data. No advertising, no analytics services, no third parties.
What the extension never does
- It never reads pages outside upwork.com.
- It never collects browsing history, messages, client information, or anything you didn't generate by using the tracker.
- It never sells or transfers data to anyone. Period.
Data deletion
Delete individual entries with the × in the popup. Sign out to stop all tracking. To delete your cloud data entirely, delete every entry in the popup while signed in (the cloud copy mirrors it), or email us and we'll delete your document. Uninstalling the extension removes all local data.
Permissions, in plain language
- upwork.com access — to read Connects amounts and add dollar labels.
- storage — to keep your settings and history in your browser.
- identity — to offer Google sign-in. Only requested when you click "Sign in."
